Ferfolia Funeral Homes has been proud to offer numerous in-house grief programs thanks to Alice Ferfolia’s dedication and commitment to help families through the grieving process beginning in 1988. Alice was national certified grief counselor and death educator (A.D.E.C.). She was also one of the first licensed grief therapists in Northeast Ohio, working with the Diocese of Cleveland and Foresight Family Funeral Homes to create and provide grieving families with the support they needed. Her vision continues today in our funeral home. From support groups to holidays programs, our staff is available year-round to help you remember your loved one.
Support Groups
In 1988, Ferfolia Funeral Home became the first funeral home in Northeast Ohio to offer bereavement services with Alice Ferfolia’s “Coping with Grief” support groups. The great work started by Alice is continued today by her protégé and current Director of Bereavement Services at Ferfolia Funeral Homes, Darlene Bednarz. Darlene leads a quarterly support group specifically designed to provide education, support, and healing during the individual grief journey. For reservations, please call: 330-467-4500.
The Light Remains 5k Race & 1 Mile Walk
Ferfolia Funeral Homes held its first annual 5K Run & 1 Mile Walk in 2025 to celebrate life and raise money to help The Emergency Assistance Center in Northfield. Each year we will share our light with a different local charity. The Light Remains seeks to honor the lives of those we have lost and to share their light with others by helping each other "neighbor to neighbor" journey through life. Hope for the Holidays
The holiday season can be the most difficult time of the year for someone in grief. Alice Ferfolia continued her groundbreaking work by holding Ferfolia Funeral Home’s first annual “Hope for the Holidays” program in 1991 and its companion video tape in 1995. This evening of remembrance will acknowledge the loss you feel while reminding you of the hope the holiday season represents.
Christmas Tree & Remembrance Ornaments
Each holiday season, Ferfolia Funeral Homes lights a candle and offers a personalized keepsake angel ornament to each family we serve that year to honor their loved one. When the family comes to receive their ornament, we ask them to replace it on the tree with a memory of their loved one.
