Karen Lee Blasey

KAREN LEE BLASEY (nee Howells), age 76. Beloved wife of Earl; loving mother of Shaunna Kobilis (Mike), Rick (Sheila), Michelle (Cory), and the late Donna Dee; cherished grandmother of Michael, Cory, Ricky, Kristine, and Zachary; great-grandmother of Payton, Sheila, Kenzie, Mikey, and Amina; dear sister of Roger. Above everything she cherished her family. Even sick she never forgot a birthday. During the past three years she never complained. She wanted to live forever. My dad was not just her spouse but was her bestfriend, an incredible nurse and “the love of her life”. Just before leaving this earth she gave him a kiss and thanked him for taking good care of her. She was the strongest woman I have ever known. In the end she lost her battle to progressive supranuclear palsy. There is no cure. Few clinicians know very much about the disease but were lucky my dad was an expert. After retiring they moved to punta gorda Florida to live out their dream. She made sure she stayed connected to us and our lives through constant calls. Her favorite hobbies included writing endless work lists for my dad, eating super sugary sweets everyday, trips to the beach, shell collecting, shopping nonstop, and her best and favorite hobby was giving advice. I hear her in my head and know she will go on in all of us. She used to tell me as a child that “someday you’re going to miss me” and she was right. Karen was the best mom and wife we could’ve ever been blessed with. She was the most beautiful, kind, loving, loyal, and strong woman we will ever know in this life. She had an awesome presence. She was our compass, our everything. Our hearts died with her’s, and we’ll miss her forever. Our world will never be the same.
