Thomas Adam Hartel

THOMAS ADAM HARTEL, age 85, passed away on April 14, 2026, after a very brief battle with cancer.  He was the beloved husband of Marie (nee Faverio), his "honey bunch" of 60 years; dear father of Renee Hiles (Joseph) and Mark Hartel (Melanie); loving grandfather of Quinton Hiles (Dara), Brandon Hartel (Samantha), Austin Hiles, Emily Sewell (Samuel), and Braxton Hiles; great grandfather of Genevieve Hartel and Richard Hartel; son of the late Thomas and Ann (nee Ochkie) Hartel; brother of the late Fr. Edward Hartel.

Tom was a simple man who served his country in the Army Reserves, enjoyed fishing, golfing, working outside around the house, root beer floats, watching the Cavs and Guardians, and talking about his favorite teams with his grandchildren, friends, and anyone who would listen. But nothing compared to his passion for his family. He was always proud of each of them and treasured every moment spent with them. He loved and cared for his wife Marie to no end. He loved to see his children and grandchildren participate in their sports and activities and often traveled to watch them. He became an instant friend to everyone he met. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

All are asked to gather at St. Basil the Great Catholic Church, 8700 Brecksville Road, Brecksville, OH on Saturday, May 30, 2026, at 11:30 a.m. to celebrate Tom’s Mass of Christian Burial. Interment All Saints Cemetery
