RUTH LOIS HALL (née Grannis), 93, passed away peacefully on November 2nd, 2025, with family at her side.
Ruth was born in Montcalm City, Michigan, on November 5th, 1931. She spent her early years in Howard City, Michigan, where she will be interred. Ruth earned a degree in Special Education at Western Michigan University, followed by a master’s degree at Case Western University. She dedicated decades of her life as a speech pathologist and child psychoanalyst for children with special needs, touching countless lives. Ruth was a published author- pouring her knowledge and passion into a book titled– “Love First Learned in a Lady’s Eyes; A Psychoanalytic Developmental Study on Shakespeare and His Works.”
She is survived by her sister Ardena (née Grannis) Plourde; two sons, Eric (Leigh) Hall and Karl Hall; grandchildren, Deanna, Linda, Kevin (Jillian Sollars), and Lisa Hall; two great–grandchildren, Nina and Conor Murray. She was preceded in death by her parents, Russell and Ruth (née Terwilliger) Grannis; her husband Sven Richard Hall; siblings, Harold, Mabel, Marian, Robert, Catherine, Frank, and Esther; and her granddaughter, Sarah Hall.
Ruth lived a life full of independence, adventure, and compassion reflected through her career, family, and friends. From shooing a bear away with a broom, to photographing a breaching whale from a rubber raft, to scuba diving with hammerhead sharks (at 68 years old), Ruth inspired everyone around her to live life to its fullest.
