Richard “Rick” Bookman, age 69, passed away at home peacefully surrounded by family and friends on June 19, 2022. Beloved husband of Kathy Bookman (nee Klimonick Pearl); Loving father to Stefanie D’Angelo (Mark), Dylan Bookman (Pam); stepdad of Stacey Pearl, Caitlin Hall (Dave). Cherished grandpa of Addison, Zachary, Lauren, and Maya. Dear brother of Roger Bookman (Arlene), Rodney Bookman (Sue), the late Wally Bookman, and the late Patricia Dremann. Brother-in-law to Judy Shafer (Jeff). Former spouse of Sandra Bookman and Sue Bookman. Uncle, cousin, and friend to so many we can’t list without fear of missing someone. As Rick wished, there will be no service but a celebration of life will be planned at a later date. Rick was a proud graduate of THE Ohio State University and an ardent fan of all things Buckeye. A pharmacist and business owner, he filled the prescriptions of most of the movers and shakers of downtown Cleveland during his decades behind the counter at Tower City Drug. In retirement Rick enjoyed golfing, traveling, planning world domination over a cold drink, and reminding anyone within earshot that he was feeling particularly handsome. In closing, we’ll share the words of Mr. Bookman himself: “Well, this looks like the end. It’s been a good ride, I did everything I wanted to and had a great time – thanks for having me!” In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the American Cancer Society, https://tinyurl.com/BookmanACSDonation or Hospice of the Western Reserve, https://p2p.onecause.com/hwr/donate – and most importantly, crack open a cold one and share a drink at your favorite watering hole in his honor. Cheers, Mr. Bookman!
