Patricia Hubay

PATRICIA HUBAY (nee Ardren); age 91, of Sagamore Hills (formerly Toledo, Ohio), passed away December 27, 2024. Beloved wife of the late Kenneth; loving mother of Greg (Amanda); cherished grandmother of Brendan and Cameron; dear sister of the late William Ardren. Patricia was born in Liverpool, England to William and Josephine Ardren. She loved to tell stories of the nuns at St. Oswald’s and Notre Dame High School from which she graduated. Patricia was a bold, strong woman who in her early thirties moved to the United States on a one-year working vacation with her job in international banking and met the love of her life, Kenny and stayed. After staying home with Greg after he was born until high school, she went back to work as a Pre-Kindergarten teacher’s aide, helping to start the Pre-K Program at St. Clement’s School. Her face would genuinely light up at the sight of any child. After retiring, she spent many years as a volunteer at the University of Toledo Learning Enhancement Center, spending any free time talking with students about her love of English Premier League soccer. Many Saturday mornings were spent by this quiet, polite, caring woman yelling at the TV for Liverpool, FC to score another goal. Known to all as “Nana,” she loved talking with family and friends, usually involving a cup of tea and a biscuit and the telling of one of her amazing stories. To her, no one was a stranger. She was the #1 fan at every one of Brendan and Cameron’s sporting or school events, with the special bond with the boys being a source of great joy in her life. Patricia was deeply religious and her faith was unwavering as a member of St. Barnabas Catholic Church in Northfield and formerly Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church and St. Clement Catholic Church in Toledo. Mass of Christian Burial to celebrate Patricia’s life, 10:00 a.m. Friday, at St. Barnabas Catholic Church, 9451 Brandywine Road, Northfield, Ohio 44067. Interment Resurrection Cemetery, Toledo, Ohio.
