Nicholas Molnar Obituary

NICHOLAS J. “NICK” MOLNAR, age 93, of Macedonia, passed away Friday, March 28, 2025. Beloved husband of Jeanette M. (nee Paryzek); loving father of Nicholas (Deborah), Thomas (Julie), Linda Drumm (Thomas), and David; cherished grandfather of Devan Humrichouser (Zach), Craig, Nicholas, Abbey Franks (Zach), Lindsey Molnar (Hannah), Matthew, Emily Drumm (Matt Demmler), Megan, and Allison; great grandfather of Milo, and Oliver; dear brother of the late Marilyn Knowles (Willard, living), and Elizabeth Trombetta (the late Ignatius). Member of Church of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Macedonia.

Born on May 26, 1931, in Cleveland, Nick was a lifelong resident of Ohio whose life was defined by steadfast dedication to family, faith, labor advocacy, and public service. A graduate of Cathedral Latin High School in the Class of 1949, Nick began his professional career shortly thereafter with East Ohio Gas Company as a Meter Reader. His diligence and commitment to excellence earned him a respected place within the company’s Customer Service department. In 1973, he became a Union Steward and later served as Vice President of the Local Gas Workers' Union from 1981 until his retirement in 1997. Throughout his tenure, Nick championed the rights and well-being of his fellow workers, leaving a lasting legacy within the labor community.

Nick’s commitment to service extended far beyond the workplace. From 1985 to 2005, he served as Councilman for the city of Macedonia. For two decades, he worked tirelessly to improve the lives of residents through thoughtful leadership and active civic engagement. His dedication to the community also included support for youth athletics. As a former Little League coach and President of the Nordonia Hills Athletic Association, Nick played a key role in nurturing sportsmanship and teamwork among young athletes in the area.

A man of deep faith, Nick was a founding member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Macedonia when it was established in 1967. He faithfully attended the 8:00 am Mass, where he ushered for many years and prayed the Rosary daily. His quiet devotion and spiritual discipline were sources of strength and inspiration to those around him. In his personal life, Nick found joy in simple pleasures. He loved gardening and traveling—especially family vacations that brought him peace and happiness throughout his life. Nick shared nearly 66 years of marriage with Jeanette—a partnership rooted in love, mutual respect, and unwavering support. After marrying in May 1959, they built a home in Macedonia where they settled down and raised their four children.

May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him and continue to inspire acts of kindness and service within the community he so faithfully supported.
