Myles Bates Obituary

MYLES BATES, 101, of Richfield, passed away on October 10, 2025, with his family by his side. He was born on February 13, 1924 in Cleveland, Ohio. He was a devoted husband of 57 years to Jean Bates (Foreman); cherished father of Michele Fitzgerald (Jim); loving grandfather of Ryan. He also leaves behind two grandpups, Dutch and Rudy, that he adored.

Myles served in the U.S. Navy in World War II at Pearl Harbor. After his service, he became a corrections officer for the Cleveland Juvenile Courts, where he met his wife.  After raising a family together, he went on to become a Fiscal Analyst for the Cuyahoga County and Human Services, from which he retired.

Myles was a man of integrity, kindness, and generosity, leaving a lasting impact on everyone that knew him, including his extended family at Cardinal Court Assisted Living.

We find comfort in knowing that Dad’s legacy lives on through the lessons he taught us, the love he shared, and the memories we will cherish forever.

To further Myles’ memory, the family suggests donations be made to The Wounded Warrior Project, https://support.woundedwarriorproject.org/. Private funeral services will be held at a later date.
