MARGARET H. SOPATA (nee Cytlak), age 90, of Macedonia, passed away June 4, 2025. Beloved wife of the late Edward F.; loving mother of Lisa Parketny (David), Kevin (Sharon), Erick (Amy), and the late Edward Jr.; cherished grandmother of Christopher, Luke (Emily), Abigail, Alexis, Dylan, Mya, EJ, and Aleah; dear sister of Janet Gross (the late Dan), the late Frank Cytlak, and the late Maryann Cytlak Kircher (David, living); aunt, great aunt, and friend of many. Retired after 20 years from Charter One Bank, where she was a well known head bank teller. Margaret was a longtime and active member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church where she taught catechism classes to children, facilitated bereavement groups, and instructed adults in the RCIA program. She was a great humanitarian, supporting many charities, including favorites Children International and Heifer International. In her younger years, she was secretary to the vice president at Lincoln/Ford. She left that job to follow her husband when he was stationed in Frankfurt, Germany, and that’s where Eddie Junior was born. They spent their weekends and leave exploring Europe, and after returning to the U.S., she never lost her wanderlust. She loved to travel with her immediate family, friends, church group, sisters, and nieces. Her trips included pilgrimages and cruises, traveling to the Caribbean, Alaska, Florida, Hawaii, and Europe. Margaret had a very active social life with her rubber ducky water aerobics, Red Hat Society, and evenings out dining and polka dancing. In her later years, you would find her summering at her little piece of paradise on Catawba Island. This was her time for beaches, boating, sunsets, friends, and family. And what Marge lived for was spending time conversing with her family: her children and grandchildren. She attended every grandchild’s event that she could, hosted holidays and gatherings often, and loved them all so dearly. She was loved by us all and will be greatly missed. Friends may call at the FERFOLIA FUNERAL HOME, 356 WEST AURORA RD (RTE 82), SAGAMORE HILLS, FOR VISITATION ON TUESDAY, JUNE 10, 2025, FROM 4-7 PM. Funeral 9:15 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
