Lawrence "Larry" J. Verbiar

LAWRENCE “LARRY” J. VERBIAR, 90, of Vermilion and formerly of Sagamore Hills. Former husband of Darlene Lucido; Loving father of Cathy Verbiar (Al), Cindy Sackett (Bob), Chris Istenes (Jim), and Cari Miller (Will); Cherished grandpa of Dennis and Michael Verbiar, Erica Neuman, Lauren Shurtleff, Bryan, Nick, and Alex Istenes, Mia, Kyle, and Sofi Miller; Adored great grandpa of Leo and Anna Neuman, Alaina Shurtleff, and Carter Istenes; Dearest son of the late Frank J. and the late Rose (nee Fedortha); Dear brother of the late Frank. Larry was a graduate of Cathedral Latin High School and received a bachelor’s degree from John Carroll University. He retired as a chemist and worked for Harshaw, Ferro Chemical, Tremco and Baerlocher. In his younger years, Larry enjoyed running-especially in marathons in different states in all of the weather elements; making turtle chocolates for all the holidays; his special treats for the family. He was an avid reader, enjoyed doing puzzles; documenting his biography and contributing to his “B” series handouts. Larry will forever be remembered for his great sense of humor, love of his family, and always lending a helping hand to others. Most importantly, Larry was a family man and enjoyed attending to all or as many as he could of his grandchildren’s sporting events. One will never forget that Larry’s love for wearing his red socks-no matter the occasion. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Larry’s name to either Samaritan’s Purse at https://www.samaritanspurse.org/our-ministry/donate-online/, St. Barnabas Catholic Church 9451 Brandywine Rd. RT. 82) SAGAMORE HILLS FOR VISITATION TUESDAY 3-7 PM. Funeral Wednesday 9:30 a.m. at the Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial to celebrate Larry’s life 10 a.m. St. Barnabas Catholic Church. Interment All Saints Cemetery, Northfield.
