Larry P. Jenkins, 86, of Catawba Island, OH passed away Sunday evening, February 23, 2025. Beloved husband to Loretta (nee Lisy), whom he married on November 3, 1956; loving father to triplets Randy (Lisa), Ray (DeAnna), and Robin Canale (the late Mark), the late Scott and the late Michael; cherished “Papa” to Jason Quesada (Emilie), Ami McRitchie (Jayson), Shane (Briana), Kyle (Maria), Connor (Haley) and Karlee; 7 great grandchildren, dear brother to Shirley Keller, Robert (Rosie), Kathy Nicklas (Denny); brother-in-law to Jim Lisy (Pat), Bruce Lisy (Corkie), the late Ron Lisy, and the late Joan Lisy. Larry was born on March 3, 1938, in Gastonia, NC to the late Lytle “Pete” and Katherine Jenkins. Larry retired from Ford Motor Stamping Plant in Walton Hills, OH. Larry had a passion for staying fit - starting his days going to the gym. Regardless of where he was Florida, or back home, he found a gym to train at. He started off at Vic Tanny, then Worlds Gym, and when on Catawba Island, Port Clinton Gym. If there was a gym to be had, Larry found it. Back in the day, many would say that Larry was a spitting image of Tarzan; Suntan, and Ripped “Muscles” Big Papa, as the grandkids and great grandkids called him. After retirement, he would spend time on Catawba Island fishing with family and friends and would eventually retire there. On Catawba, you would find Larry at 6:00 a.m. with his Tilley Hat on, heading to his boat, the “Crowd Pleaser”. He enjoyed watching his family and grandchildren fish from the boat. He often would just take off out the door with his dogs on the golf cart for a quick ride around the neighborhood as he checked out things. He loved his neighbors, finding his way to their houses and ending up eating breakfast, lunch or just enjoying a cold one. He enjoyed traveling to Germany, Mexico, Alaska, and Islamorada, Florida, where he enjoyed deep sea fishing with friends and family. Eventually he became a snowbird in Florida for many years. Larry loved his many dogs he had over the years. His family will miss him saying: “Busy hands are happy hands”; even if it were a holiday and 90+ degrees outside, “Happy Hands” were had by all! Also missed will be the occasional driving in the car with Papa in total silence, no conversation or radio, that’s how he rolled. A private service will be held at a later date.
