JOSEPH DALE LUKES, age 63, passed away on January 24, 2026, at the Richard E. Jacobs Health Center in Avon, Ohio, while in hospice care. He was surrounded by those he loved most: his wife, Patricia; his sons, Joseph and Christopher; his daughter, Danielle; and his brother, Craig.
Joe was born on December 14, 1962, to Josephine Ann and Joseph Patrick Lukes. Raised in Walton Hills, Ohio, he graduated from Bedford High School in June 1981. Shortly thereafter, he married his high school sweetheart, Patricia, beginning a lifelong partnership built on devotion, hard work, and family.
Joe was the founder and owner of Precision PMD, an engineering, design, and manufacturing company specializing in food packaging equipment. Building Precision PMD was more than a career—it was his life’s work. Even while courageously battling renal cell carcinoma, Joe continued to manage his business and provide for his family until his final week, a testament to his resilience and character.
From a young age, Joe possessed an extraordinary mechanical mind. As a teenager, he rebuilt a 1963 Corvette, foreshadowing a lifetime of hands-on ingenuity. He found joy in working on and riding motorcycles, boating, fishing, and anything involving engines or tools. Joe had an uncanny ability to fix almost anything—a skill so natural it felt like a superpower to those who knew him.
Joe’s ability to build anything transcended into the enduring relationships he nurtured throughout his life. Joe possessed an innate gift for making moments matter. Whether he was hosting boat rides on his Tiara on Lake Erie, fixing golf carts on Kelleys Island, or establishing a new family legacy on Tybee Island, he truly left no stone unturned. Above all, Joe was a provider in every sense of the word. He loved deeply and gave generously. His strength, loyalty, and steady presence shaped the lives of everyone fortunate enough to know him.
Joe is survived by his loving wife, Patricia Lukes; his children, Joseph (Megan) Lukes, Christopher (Brooke) Lukes, and Danielle Lukes (William Vettel); his grandchildren, James, Lottie, Remy, and step-granddaughter Cameron Brunner; and his parents-in-law, Harvey and Beverly Dzomba. He is also survived by his siblings, Craig (Tere) Lukes and Dawn (Joseph) Gilday, and was a cherished uncle to ten. He was preceded in death by his brother, Gary Lukes, and his parents, Josephine and Joseph Lukes.
A lifelong Roman Catholic, Joe remained grounded in his faith throughout his life.
