JANICE LAVONE BREEN (nee Carr) was called home to her Lord on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at the age of 85, strengthened by faith and sustained by Love. Janice’s legacy is clearly evident in her lifelong outpouring of love and her selfless dedication to three preeminent ideals: MARITAL PARTNERSHIP … MOTHERHOOD … FAMILY.
Born Janice Lavone Carr in Emporia, Kansas, to Marie and Andoe Carr on December 30, 1940. Her father’s position with Bechtel Corporation required frequent relocation … to live in Kansas, Texas, California, and Washington state, among other places. When she was not able to follow her parents and 2 younger siblings, Linda and Larry, to Canada, she found employment in Massachusetts, where she met the love of her life, John Breen. United in marriage in 1961, they shared 64 years of faithful partnership grounded in sacramental love, devotion, and mutual respect. Together, they built a life centered on family and faith, ultimately making their home in Sagamore Hills, where they resided for 52 years. They were blessed with six children: John, Jacqueline, Janice, Jeffrey, Joseph, and Judith. Janice is survived by countless nieces, nephews and grandchildren. She enjoyed reading and gardening, with a love of wildlife. However, motherhood was her sacred vocation. Her devotion to her family included providing a loving environment where a thirst for knowledge and constant self-improvement was a priority. She was active in her community and church, serving as den mother, supporting the PSR program at St. Barnabas Church, and working as state textbook liaison at St. Barnabas school. She will be dearly missed.
