Jack Stitt Obituary

Jack Harman Stitt lived a life marked by curiosity, generosity, faith, and deep devotion to his family. He was born in El Paso, Texas, on November 27, 1945, the son of Jack Stitt (deceased 1983) and Betty Stitt (née Harman), who preceded him in death in 2020. As a child, Jack’s family moved frequently, and he grew up spending time in California, the Bahamas, and France.

Jack attended high school abroad, later studying at the American College in Paris before graduating from Boston University in 1967. That same year, he began a long and successful career in the insurance and financial services industry. He founded Stratford Agency Group, Inc. in 1984 and later Portfolio Management Inc., a registered investment advisory firm, in 1991. Jack became a Certified Financial Planner in 1991 and retired in 2014. Throughout his career, many of his clients became lifelong friends.

Jack is survived by his wife of 44 years, Margaret (née Jobe), of Macedonia; his sisters Nancy Phillips (Floyd) of Huntington Beach, California, and Linda Ryan (Robert) of Chagrin Falls; and his six children: Christopher Stitt (Denise) of Burke, Virginia; Traci Sage of Westlake; Jason Stitt (Laura) of Park Hills, Kentucky; Betsy Gizzo (Ronald) of Sagamore Hills; Janet Kulka of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania; and John Stitt (Katie) of Stow, Ohio.

Jack was the devoted grandfather of thirteen grandchildren and the proud great-grandfather of one great-grandchild, all of whom brought him immense joy.

A man of deep faith and service, Jack was an active member of Northfield Presbyterian Church, where he served as a deacon and as a member of the church’s daycare board. He also developed a deepening interest in photography later in life as a member of the Cleveland Photographic Society.

Jack’s ashes will be spread privately by family at the family farm in Middlefield, Ohio, a place where he spent many cherished hours surrounded by loved ones.

Friends and family are asked to gather for a Celebration of Life Service at NORTHFIELD PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH, 7755 S. BOYDEN ROAD, NORTHFIELD, ON SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 28, 2026 AT 11 AM.

In lieu of flowers, the family invites those who wish to honor Jack to do so in a way he would appreciate: the next time you find yourself in South Carolina, stop by Drunken Jack’s, raise a glass, and remember him.
