Helen Mary Savage

HELEN MARY SAVAGE (nee Long), age 81, passed away on January 12, 2026. Beloved wife of Michael; loving mother of Maureen Hayes (Todd), Deborah Savage (Keri Morgan), Dan Savage (Beth), and the late Tara Savage; dear grandmother of Andrew, Sean, Paul, Brigid, Malcolm, and the late Patrick; sister of the late Bill Long; aunt of Bill Long, Jr., Marylou Barry, Tim Long, and Ann Mitsopoulos. Born in Salem, MA, Helen was a long-time resident of Stow, OH and retired in 2005 from a career as a Professor in the Williamson College of Business Administration at Youngstown State University. Helen’s faith led her to a lifetime of service. In addition to being an educator, she was active and generous with her time at any parish she belonged to, including Holy Cross, Holy Family, St. Catherine’s, and St. Barnabas. Also, she had the honor of serving multiple terms on the Catholic Charities Board for the Diocese of Youngstown. Helen’s wit and sense of humor were extraordinary. (OH RT 82), SAGAMORE HILLS FOR VISITATION ON TUESDAY, JANUARY 20, 2026 FROM 2-4 AND 6-8 P.M. Funeral Wednesday, January 21, 2026 at 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Mass of Christian Burial 10:00 a.m. at St. Barnabas Catholic Church. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery – Akron, Ohio.
