Helen Novakovich Obituary

February 27, 1934 - September 24, 2025

In Loving Memory of Helen Julia Novakovich.

Helen J. Novakovich, 91, of Northfield, Ohio went home to be with the Lord on September 24, 2025. She passed away peacefully, surrounded by family and enveloped in love.

Helen lived a beautiful life. Born in Pennsylvania to Polish immigrant parents, Helen was the youngest of seven children and the only daughter. She was born spunky.

Helen was a devoted member of the Catholic Church, with her faith and family always at the center of her life. Known for her quirky spirit, good sense of humor, and ability to find joy in the everyday, she had a light-hearted approach to life and a warm, welcoming heart. She never took things too seriously—except when it came to her family, whom she cherished above all.

She was the beloved wife of the late John Novakovich, and loving mother of Julie Armstrong (Bill), John (Mamie), James (Tammy), and Jeff (Donna). She was a devoted grandmother to Holly Little (David), Heather Biondi (Peter), Cory Armstrong (Taylor), and the late Jamie Novakovich, and an adoring great-grandmother to Eve, Blair, George, Henry, and Thomas. Helen also joyfully embraced the many bonus grandchildren and great-grandchildren who came into her life through family and love.  She was the dear sister of the late Joseph, Rudolph, Edward, Stanley, John, and Steve Obbish.  Helen leaves behind her beloved dog, Poncho, a feisty chihuahua who could only be tamed by Helen (and her table scraps).

A dedicated employee at Ohio Bell and Walker China, Helen also loved serving as an Executive Assistant. She proudly supported the family-owned trucking company, CPX, Inc. Helen loved Elvis, polka, and classic country music and enjoyed completing crossword puzzles and reading celebrity news and pop culture magazines. She was beautiful inside and out and had an expressive and confident fashion sense that was all her own. Helen left a little sparkle wherever she went. Over the years, she enjoyed traveling with her husband, visiting family in Arizona, attending shows at Playhouse Square, and spending time with her children and grandchildren at home and out and about. Helen was always up for an adventure if family was involved.

Her favorite titles were Mom, Gram, and GG. Helen’s greatest joy came from her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Baptisms, First Communions, Confirmations, birthdays, holidays, graduations, weddings, dance recitals, vacations, games, theme parties—she was there for all of life’s big and small moments with a smile on her face. Helen’s love for her family was unwavering and deep, and her legacy will live on in the laughter, faith, and strength she instilled in them.
