Frank Clark Obituary

Frank John Clark, 89, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and veteran to the Armed Forces passed away in Beachwood, Ohio on December 10th, 2024. Born on April 23, 1935, in the rural town of Alliance, Ohio, Frank was rooted deeply in the soil — quite literally, as he grew up on a family farm. This was where his love for gardening began; planting seeds that would grow alongside his fascination with American History and a lifetime zest for travel. Ohio State University saw him graduate in 1957, his inquisitive intellect as vibrant as the farmland he once hailed from. Soon after, he dutifully served his country with pride, spending two years in the U.S. Army and later serving in the National Guard, a testament to his unwavering dedication to the values he held dear.  Life took a cherished turn when Frank met Marilyn and danced the “cha, cha, cha.” They married in June 1964 and shared 60 wonderful years as partners in crime, love, and life. Frank and Marilyn found joy and fulfillment in their daughters, Christine and Julie — whom he endearingly referred to as his "snuggle bunnies" and "tigers," names that painted a picture of affection and joy. Though Frank was a man of few words, a quiet observer of life, it was the whimsical moments with his daughters and grandchildren that always brought the brightest smiles to his face. Frank wore the badge of fatherhood and grandfather hood with honor, six grandchildren subsequently blessing his life and widening his ever-loving family circle. He is reunited in Heavenly embrace now with his parents, Frank John Clark Sr. and Louise Roesti, as well as his sister Dolores, and his infant granddaughter Savannah Lee Hostetter. Yet, he leaves behind Marilyn with whom he shared such an enduring bond, daughters Christine Spence and Julie Hostetter, Son-in-Laws Tim Spence and Carson Hostetter Jr. as well as five grandchildren Reid Spence, Corbin Spence, Emma Spence, Sienna Hostetter and Violet Hostetter who carry forward his legacy in the moments and memories they continue to cherish and create.  He may not have worn a cape, but all loving fathers are heroes to their children.  And as such, his life, speaks through these words: “You held my hand When I was small. You caught me when I fell. You’re the hero of my childhood And my later years as well. And every time I think of you My heart still fills with pride. Though I’ll always miss you Dad I know you are by my side. In laughter and in sorrow. In sunshine and through rain. I know you watching over me. Until we meet again.” Though he resided in Sagamore Hills, Ohio, and later in Sugar Hill, Georgia, his journey through life took him far and wide. It is in Atlanta, Georgia, where his life will be honored in a service at a later date. In lieu of flowers, all who adored Frank can support his enduring spirit through contributions to the Diabetes Research Institute Foundation.
