Eugene Raughlins Carpenter

Eugene Raughlins Carpenter, 95, of Northfield passed away peacefully on April 29, 2025 surrounded by his family. Born on January 9, 1930, in Princeton, Kentucky, Eugene lived a long and meaningful life marked by dedication to family and service to his country.  Eugene proudly served in the United States Army, exemplifying a commitment to duty that remained with him throughout his life. His early years in Princeton, helped to shape the values he carried into adulthood—integrity, perseverance, and a deep sense of responsibility.  He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, G. Evelena Carpenter (née Yeargan); his parents, Ovid J. Carpenter and Dorthy (née Hawkins); his brothers Jack J. Carpenter and Charles “Benny” Carpenter; and his sister Betty Hobby (née Carpenter). Their memories remained close to Eugene’s heart throughout his life.  Eugene is lovingly remembered by his children: son David Eugene Carpenter (Janene Hornik), and daughters Kathy Lynn Burton (the late John)(Jerry Shavel) and Vickie Kay Carpenter (Cindy Salamon). He was a proud grandfather “Pawpo” to Lindsay Kay Nelson and Ashley Marie Wojnarski (Charles), and a cherished great-grandfather to Madeline Marie, Jack Raughlins, Henry Joseph, and Charlotte Kay Wojnarski. Beloved great-grandfather to the following fur babies Freddie and Ringo Carpenter, Penny and Nickel Burton, Bentley Carpenter, Frankie Kay and Stevie Kay Nelson, Ellie, Gus and Molly Wojnarski.  His legacy lives on through the generations of his family who will carry forward the strength and resilience he embodied. The family would like to thank Maplewood Assisted Living in Twinsburg Ohio, and all the special Nurses and Aides who helped take such great care of our Pops. Your love and care for him was extraordinary and we will be forever grateful for you all. May his memory bring a smile and comfort to those who knew him. Friends may call at the FERFOLIA FUNERAL HOME 356 West Aurora Road (Rt 82) Sagamore Hills where services will be held Saturday May 3, 2025, at 11:00AM. VISITATION SATURDAY MORNING 9:00AM UNTIL TIME OF SERVICES. Interment Northfield Macedonia Cemetery.
