Clark Brown, Jr. Obituary

CLARK RICHMOND BROWN, JR. “RICH”, age 83, beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather (PopPop), Uncle, Brother, and friend to many was called to his eternal resting place on August 27, 2025. Rich was born on July 18, 1942, in Cleveland, Ohio, born to Clark and Ruth (Meckstroth) Brown. He spent time growing up in Texas before moving back to Northeast Ohio. Rich graduated from Brush High School in Lyndhurst, Ohio in 1960 then went on to Ohio University before proudly serving in the United States Navy aboard the USS Klondike. Rich married his loving wife, Mary Alice (Koch) of 58 years on November 24, 1966, at St. Gregory the Great Church in South Euclid, Ohio. They spent time in San Diego, California and Canton, Ohio before settling in South Euclid, Ohio where they spent 20 years raising their beautiful family. Rich developed a tight bond with his neighbors on Freemont Rd. He and his best friend Jack would take nightly walks in the neighborhood and ponder life. The Freemont Road Crew had memorable block parties and made weekend trips in the summer to the beach at Fairport Harbor. Rich spent much of his career working as a buyer and HR Manager for Higbee’s department store before transitioning to real estate where he worked as a Real Estate Agent and Title Agent. In 1997 Rich and Mary moved to Sagamore Hills, Ohio where they lived for 28 years and were proud members of St. Barnabas Parish. Rich is survived by his spouse Mary (Koch) Brown; daughter Karen Vrtis (James) and their children Tyler Vrtis (Emily), Rachel Petrolla (Nick) and Paige Vrtis (Conner Youngker); daughter Linda Farrell (Patrick) and their children Nicholas Farrell (Alexi), Kyle Farrell, Madalyn Farrell and Patrick “Diddy” Farrell; daughter Jennifer Edwards (Trey) and their children Benjamin Edwards, Zachary Edwards and Lauren Edwards. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Nancy Nagy (George) of South Euclid, Ohio. Always with a smile on his face Rich said FAMILY is what life is all about and believed nothing is more valuable than a good sense of humor. He was a loyal husband, proud father and Pop Pop and avid storyteller. His stories about the water snakes under the dock in Texas, his adventures at Bexley Pool (where he met Mary), and the sharpshooters on the Navy ship protecting his men from sharks, and many more stories, will live on through his grandkids. Rich thoroughly enjoyed his retirement. He loved to brag about not having to cut his grass or shovel the snow when he moved to Sagamore Hills. He spent most of his time watching his grandson’s baseball games, hanging out at Camp Farrell and doting on Mary, his forever sweetheart and the love of his life! He was loved beyond measure and will be dearly missed! Donations may be made in Rich‘s memory to Crossroads Hospice at https://www.crhcf.org/donate.
