Charles "Chuck" Kozelka Obituary

CHARLES “CHUCK” KOZELKA, of Macedonia, Ohio, passed away peacefully on July 15, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, laughter, and horsepower. He was 84.

Born on March 22, 1941, Chuck was a proud graduate of Cathedral Latin High School. He went on to serve the City of Macedonia with honor and integrity for 27 years, retiring in 1991 as a Detective Sergeant with the Police Department. He was deeply respected by his fellow officers and the community he faithfully protected.

Prior to being a police officer, he was in several bands as a drummer; he even did a drum solo at his wedding reception.

Chuck was a devoted husband to Mary James “Jamie” Kozelka, his beloved wife of 57 years. Together they built a life full of joy, friendship, and legendary parties at one of their first homes in Macedonia that had a large pond.

A lifelong car enthusiast, Chuck had an undying love for classic Fords—so much so that he owned over 300 vintage cars throughout his life. He founded the Nifty Fifty’s Car Club. His prized Steeda Mustang was his latest favorite, and he proudly brought home countless trophies over the years.

Chuck’s passions didn’t stop at cars. He was a die-hard sports fan who cheered relentlessly for the Fighting Irish, the Ohio State Buckeyes, the Cleveland Indians, and—always hopeful—the Cleveland Browns. He could often be found on his back deck listening to sports and his beloved waterfall trickle into the night.

He had a flair for fun and a heart for giving. He created many great memories and if you were lucky, you may have heard his unforgettable Louis Armstrong impression—his rendition of What a Wonderful World was a family favorite whenever someone could convince him to sing.

Chuck was cherished by his nieces and nephews and was known for his warmth, gentleness, and good humor, which touched everyone who knew him.

He was the kindest, most gentle soul—a man who lived with integrity, humility, and a huge heart. Chuck Kozelka left the world better than he found it, and he will be missed more than words can say.
