Obituary

BRIAN J. PENNEBAKER, 67, of Macedonia, passed away suddenly on October 7, 2025. Beloved husband to Diane M. (nee Abramczyk); loving dad to Chad and Sarah; Dear son to the late Carl and Velma (nee Fisher) and son-in-law to the late Karl and Mary Shenk; dearest brother to twin Carl (Mike Torhan), and Debra Phillips (Frank); cherished uncle to many nieces and nephews. Born on March 22, 1958, in Lorain, Ohio, Brian lived a life filled with adventure, laughter and love. A proud graduate of Lorain High School's Class of 1976, and Cleveland State University, Brian went on to build a distinguished career as an engineering manager with Rockwell Automation. His dedication, intelligence, and quiet determination earned him the respect and admiration of his colleagues. More than a career, his work reflected his lifelong curiosity about how things functioned — a curiosity that extended far beyond his profession. Outside of work, Brian found joy in exploring the mysteries of the universe. Whether it was gazing at the stars through his telescope, connecting with others on his ham radio, or embarking on ghost-hunting adventures, he embraced the wonder and excitement of discovery. His hobbies reflected a spirit that was both scientific and deeply imaginative. Above all else, Brian was a devoted husband, father, and friend. He shared a beautiful life with his wife, Diane, whose partnership and everlasting love was at the center of his world for the last 34 years. He took great pride in his children, Chad and Sarah, and found endless happiness in their accomplishments and the people they became. Brian will be remembered as a caring, generous, and loving man — someone who was always ready to lend a hand, offer a kind word, or share a laugh. His compassion touched everyone who knew him, and his memory will continue to inspire kindness and curiosity in those he leaves behind. His family and friends will forever treasure the time shared with him under the stars, the conversations across radio waves, and the warmth of his ever-giving heart. Brian's light will continue to shine in the hearts of all who loved him. Brian's compassion and kindness carried throughout all of his friends and family. Friend and family are invited to share their memories and stories, as we honor the spirit of a man whose strength never wavered. Friends may call at THE FERFOLIA FUNERAL HOME, 356 WEST AURORA ROAD (OH RT 82), SAGAMORE HILLS where Funeral Services will be held to celebrate Brian's life Tuesday at 12:00PM.
