Betty Bowers

Betty (Tracy) Bowers June 1, 1943 – February 26, 2021Today we mourn the loss of Betty (Tracy) Bowers, we celebrate and pay tribute to a life well-lived.Betty was with Case Western Reserve University (CWRU) in the Weatherhead School of Management for almost 20 years.  During that time, she helped bring the Executive MBA program to life.  She loved nurturing and encouraging the first students, and those that followed, through the program.  She had a tremendously positive impact on those she worked with as well as those she mentored.  It was at CWRU that Betty met her beloved husband Dr. David A. Bowers (deceased in 2007).  She was alongside Dave when he led his successful Economic Forecast luncheons.  They were a great team. Betty was truly a pioneer as well as an entrepreneur.  She was intellectually curious, well-read and always available to share her time to help others in their path of learning.Since 1996, Betty was an integral part of changing the face of aging in Cleveland, Ohio.  Betty had a passion for serving seniors and providing seniors with options for aging in place and remaining independent in their own homes for longer. She was one of the first 12 Home Instead Senior Care offices in the United States.  Betty started her office in Beachwood then continued to expand to cover eastern Cuyahoga county.   Everywhere she went she looked for ways to make a positive difference in the lives of those she served. Betty was known for her quick wit, being a visionary, her compassion and willingness to help others, and the meaningful impact she had on so many people. Betty (Hoffman, Tracy)  is survived by four sisters, Rozella Gruenhagen (Napoleon, OH), Dorothy Kossow (Palm Harbor, FL), Suzie Vandemark (Defiance, OH) and Kathy Norden (Napoleon, OH), two daughters Jeannie (Tracy) Radcliff (husband Scott) of Richfield, OH and Sandra (Tracy) Kositzky (husband Tom) of Spanaway, WA, along with 8 grandchildren, Rachel Radcliff, Kiara Radcliff, Connor Radcliff, Anna Kositzky, Grace Kositzky, Camden Kositzky, William Kositzky and Amy Kositzky. Betty had Alzheimer’s for many years.  Even in the midst of this horrid disease, her personality would shine through.  We want to thank all who loved and cared for her! Friends may call at the FERFOLIA FUNERAL HOME 356  W AURORA RD (ST RT 82) SAGAMORE HILLS FOR VISITATION THURSDAY 2-5 PM and FRIDAY 11-1 and 4-6PM. OUT OF RESPECT FOR ONE ANOTHER MASKS WILL BE WORN AND SOCIAL DISTANCING OBSERVED. A Memorial Service to celebrate Betty’s will will be held at a later date.
