Barbara Harmon Obituary

Barbara (Elder Nielson) Harmon (nee Prusinski) went to be with her Lord on January 11, 2021 after a courageous battle with cancer at the age of 79. She is survived by her dear husband Edgar Harmon, her son Richard and daughter-in-law Susan Elder, grandchildren Patrick and Catherine; son Keith and daughter-in-law Victoria Elder, grandchildren Matthew, Briana and CJ. She had three great-granddaughters and numerous nieces and nephews.

Barbara was born on February 11, 1941 in Cleveland, Ohio to Henry and Mildred Prusinski both of whom are deceased. She also is survived by her three siblings, Marcia Cornell (Denis); Milly Piecuch; and Henry (Bernadette) Prusinski. In 1950, the family moved to Garfield Heights where Barbara attended St. Peter and Paul School and then Marymount High School.

Barbara worked for Dalton, Dalton, Little and Newport where she met her second husband Bill Nielson. While married they lived in Akron, Ohio until they retired and moved to Lillian, Alabama where both took on 'retirement' jobs with Bill teaching and Barb serving as the church secretary at Lillian Baptist Church. Subsequently, they retired again, and to fulfill some of Barb's wanderlust, they moved to Clarkrange, Tennessee to experience a new part of the country and new adventure. After Bill's death, she moved back to Ohio where she met Ed, a widower himself. The two hit it off and were married April 10, 2013 in Pensacola, Florida. They enjoyed their life together, meeting each other's individual friends and making new friends together, especially friends from their church, Christ Community Chapel in Aurora.

Barbara had several hobbies and interests including her beloved cats which she doted upon. She also was a great fan of the Cleveland Indians – her boys as she called them – and looked forward to attending Spring Training with Ed the past several years in Arizona. However, one of her greatest hobbies was shopping – both in-person and online! She loved a good bargain!

Barb truly loved traveling and especially cruising (casinos!). She was very proud of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and enjoyed taking them on trips.

Due to Covid 19, a celebration of her life will take place at a later date. Donations in Barbara's memory may be made to Christ Community Chapel 252 N. Chillicothe Road,  Aurora, Ohio 44202.
