SALVATORE JOSEPH “SAL” IPSARO, SR, age 98, born in Cleveland, Ohio and most recently of Parma Hts., Ohio, passed from this life on September 21, 2026. His loving wife, Helen (nee Gerome), preceded him in death in 1985. Salvatore is survived by his three children, Cheryl Prosen (Dan), Susan Chatfield (Dave), and Salvatore J. Ipsaro, Jr.; his grandchildren, Nicole Chimenti, David Chimenti (Candice), Gina Chimenti, Lisa Kruse (Jason), Kristen Prosen, and Payton Kline (Joe); his great grandchildren, Sophie Chimenti, Mia Chimenti, Riley Mimna, and Violet Kline. Sal is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Anthony “Tony” and Josephine Ipsaro as well as five siblings, Paula Swirsky, Charles Ipsaro, Bill “Blaise” Ipsaro, Anthony Ipsaro, and Vincent Ipsaro.

Sal was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army. He began his family life in Cleveland before moving to the Sagamore Hills / Macedonia, Ohio area. He was an integral part of the family’s trucking business, Ipsaro Trucking. These family firms started by his Italian immigrant parents operated for over 50 years and were well known for sourcing/transportation of raw materials throughout much of Ohio.

Following his retirement in the 1980s, he spent a number of years in Boca Raton, Florida where he worked for over 10 years with Avis Car Rental until the age of 83. Honoring his family’s Italian heritage, he traveled to Sicily in 2009 where he visited his father’s home parish in Sant’ Agata di Militello. While there, he discovered his father’s baptismal record in the church that was from 1898, closing a loop in his family’s extraordinary immigration story. Sal loved life life and lived every moment to the fullest!

He returned to Ohio in 2023, residing with his son in Parma Heights until his passing. Sal’s family would also like to thank long-time caregiver, Jordynne Weese, for all the love and attention she gave to him.

Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at St. Michael Catholic Church – Independence. Entombment Four Evangelists Mausoleum at All Saints Cemetery.
