Obituary

PIERINA OPPEDISANO (nee LACOPO), 87, of North Royalton, passed away July 19, 2026, surrounded by the family she loved so dearly. Beloved wife of 64 years to Vincenzo; Loving mother to Rocky (the late Lori), Joe (Maryjo), Jim (Bernadette); Cherished grandmother to Nick (Lauren), Anna, Michael, Julia (Brandon), Vinny, Isabella, and Anthony; Treasured great grandma to Gia, Lili, and Callum.

Born on January 5, 1939, in Calabria, Italy, to the late Giuseppe Lacopo and Maria (nee Aversa), Pierina was the tenth of eleven children. At the age of 23, she left her beloved homeland to begin a new life in the United States with her husband, Vincenzo. Though she left behind everything familiar, she brought with her the traditions, warmth, faith, and love that would become the foundation of her family.

Pierina was the heart of her home. She was known for her incredible cooking, and there was never a shortage of food at her table. She always prepared enough to feed not only her family, but anyone who stopped by, insisting there was always room for one more. Her kitchen was a place where family gathered, memories were made, and everyone felt welcome.

More than anything, Pierina devoted her life to caring for others. She was kind, selfless, generous, and deeply loving—a woman who always put the needs of her family before her own. To know her was to experience unconditional love, quiet strength, and unwavering compassion.

Pierina’s greatest legacy is the family she lovingly nurtured. Her generosity, faith, delicious meals, and unconditional love will forever be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Though she will be deeply missed, her spirit will live on in the traditions she passed down, the lives she touched, and the family she so lovingly built.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Pierina’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association online.
