Obituary

Norma Carolyn Pruchnicki (nee Buck)

On June 24, 2024, our beloved Norma Pruchnicki, age 83, of Hudson, Ohio peacefully departed this world, leaving a legacy of love and compassion that will forever be cherished by all who knew her. Born as the youngest of six siblings in Cresson, PA on March 9, 1941, Norma's family moved to Cleveland where she attended Our Lady of Lourdes High School. There she shared her incredible singing voice and was chosen many times to perform solo. In 1963, Norma met Dennis at Luria Brothers, where their budding romance became evident. They embarked on a journey together that spanned six decades filled with love, laughter and mutual support. Their personalities complimented each other. Norma and Dennis were in sync with their thoughts and often finished each other's sentences. In their retirement years, they were inseparable.

Their marriage was a cornerstone of Norma's life, and together they raised four children, Lynn, Kenneth, Juliann, and Susan. Norma committed herself wholeheartedly to her family, embracing her role as a mother. Once her children were school age, Norma stepped up to help financially support the family. She was a dedicated worker for various companies but found her niche working with either young children or the elderly. Norma had unwavering patience to be with those that needed special time and attention. She had a calm and compassionate heart that drew people to her. Norma was affectionately known as Grammy to her five grandchildren, Victoria, Matthew, Kasey, Thomas, and Katie. Her first great-granddaughter, Piper, entered the world on June 22, 2024. Grammy is well known by her grandchildren for singing "A Bushel and a Peck" to express her unsurmountable love for them. In her later years, Norma found joy in reading her book beside Dennis while he watched the Browns, Ohio State Football or Guardians. She would periodically put her book down and emphatically comment on the games herself. Norma and Dennis share many memories of traveling and spending time with family and friends. Norma was known for her kindness and generosity. Her unwavering faith was a source of comfort and strength to her, guiding her through life's challenges with resilience and optimism. She touched the lives of many with her warmth and compassion, leaving an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing her. Norma was preceded in death by her loving parents William & Leona (nee Weakland) Buck, beloved siblings, Ellen (Richard) Jisa (formerly Barnhart), Gordon (Celeste) Buck, Don (Connie) Buck, Fred Buck, Doris (Frank) Clayton. Norma is survived by her devoted husband, Dennis Stanley Pruchnicki; children, Lynn (George) Hillow, Kenneth (Diane) Pruchnicki, Juliann Valyn, Susan (Frank) Mandato; grandchildren, Victoria (JD) Romero, Matthew Pierleoni, Kasey Fatur, Thomas (Maya) Vascek, and Katie Vascek; great granddaughter, Piper Romero; and sister-in-law, Doris Buck.
