Nela Ashley (nee Litwiler) passed from this life on June 22, 2024 at age 90.  Beloved wife of Ronald 41 years, loving daughter of Floyd and Ardis; loving mother of 4 sons Steve-deceased (Patti) Shirkman, Michael Shirkman, Frank Shirkman, and Jeff (Patti) Shirkman; cherished grandmother of Kyle, Matt (Jen), David (Sam), Kane (Tess), and Jordan (Niki); adored great-grandmother of Tyler, Raegan, Everett, Griffin, Adler, Sloane, KJ, Walker, and Charlotte; caring sister of Pat Gee-deceased and Carol Baugher. Loving Aunt and Beloved friend to many. Nela worked for the Nordonia Hills City Schools as an elementary school secretary at both Northfield and Ledgeview schools for 30 years. Upon her retirement, Nela devoted her time to enjoying life by spending time with family and friends; traveling throughout the United States and Europe (especially Ireland); volunteering in a kindergarten class at Ledgeview Elementary and at Marymount Hospital; sewing; playing in the flower beds; reading; and following sports at all levels, especially Nordonia High, Ohio State, the Browns, Cavaliers, and her beloved Tribe. A Celebration of Life will be held at a future date. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made in Nela's name to The Emergency Assistance Center, 9433 Olde Eight Rd, Northfield, OH 44067. Well Liked…Well Lived…and Well Loved.
