MARISA LYNNE JURCZYK; 26, Beloved daughter of Lynne (Nee Pachnowski) and Joseph P. Jurczyk; Loving sister of Katrina; Cherished granddaughter of Jenny Jurczyk (the late Thadeus "Ted") and Marie Pachnowski (the late Edward); Dearest niece of Carol London (Scott); Dear cousin of Jonathan London, Ethan London and Ashley London; Marisa will be missed by her cherished canine companion Chance. Marisa grew up in Brecksville, Ohio, attended St. Michael's Elementary School in Independence, and Walsh Jesuit High School in Cuyahoga Falls. She studied piano all through school and added the clarinet in fourth grade and, later, the guitar. She had a passion for musical bands and played in the St. Michael's band, the Music Alliance Fall Honor Band and Spring Jazz Band, and the Walsh Jesuit Drum Line and Warrior Corps Marching Band. Marisa ran cross country and track at St. Basil in fourth through eighth grade. During her middle school and high school years, she also studied Tae Kwon Do and earned her second degree black belt. Marisa was a National Merit Commended Scholar. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Sociology, Summa Cum Laude and University Honors, with a minor in Business Analytics from Loyola University New Orleans in December 2019. While at Loyola, she completed a semester of study abroad in Ghana and worked for the NOLA Wesley Labyrinth Cafe project. She worked for Rethink Charity until 2021 when she moved to Arlington, Virginia to study at Georgetown University at the McCourt School of Public Policy. During the 2023-24 school year, she interned with the U.S. Department of State. Marisa earned her Master's in Public Policy in May of 2024 with a concentration on international studies. In May of 2022, Marisa adopted a coonhound from a farm in Maryland that she named "Chance" because he was getting a second chance. The two enjoyed many dog parks in the northern Virginia and Northeast Ohio areas. Friends may call at the FERFOLIA FUNERAL HOME 356 W. AURORA RD. (ST. RT. 82) SAGAMORE HILLS FOR VISITATION MONDAY 2-4 and 6-9PM. Family and friends are asked to gather Tuesday at St. Basil the Great Catholic Church 8700 Brecksville Road Brecksville, OH for a Mass of Christian Burial to celebrate Marisa's life at 11:00 AM.
