JOHN CARL PANSMITH age 95. Beloved husband of Joan (nee DeYoung); loving father of Patti Zimmerman (Blake), Susan (Mary Kay), John (Jamie), Amy Treend (Eric) and the late Noreen Collins (Brian, living); grandfather of Katelyn, Marcus, Rudy, Ryan, Jenae, Alicia, Sean, Evan, Reed, Avery and Scott; great-grandfather of Ayla and Callum; son of the late John and Frances; brother of the late Robert (Verene). John was born in St. Albans, New York the firstborn child of Jack and Frances.  He attended Andrew Jackson HS and Oceanside HS after moving to Island Park.  He graduated from Fordham University with a degree in psychology but considered his number one accomplishment meeting and marrying the love of his life, Joan.  Together they built their family and celebrated 70 years of marriage this year.  John loved spending time with his family and was a fixture at his grandchildren's events.  He enjoyed numerous sports, swimming, playing basketball, football, softball and bowling.  John was an accomplished artist, drawing beautiful pastel portraits of loved ones and creating stained glass lamps and pieces that will be cherished for generations.  John is remembered by family, friends and acquaintances as a kind man with a quick, wry wit who created laughter and warmth wherever he went.   A devoted father and husband, a cherished grandfather and great grandfather, he will be greatly missed.
