Obituary

George William Snider, beloved husband to Carole Joyce Snider, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend to many, passed away peacefully on November 23, 2024, at the age of 90.

Born on August 15, 1934, in Richmond Hill, Ontario, Canada, George lived a full life filled with love, family, travel, and service.

After leaving Richmond Hill, George lived in Montreal, Toronto, and in Chagrin Falls, Ohio, before moving to Sagamore Hills, Ohio.

George was a devoted husband to Carole Snider for 65 wonderful years. He was a loving father to Judie (Bill) Caster, Pam (Andrew) Ferner, Carolyn (John) McGinty, and Cameron (Annegien) Snider, always there to guide and support them. As the most amazing granddad, he had a special bond with each of his nine grandchildren Allison, Neil, Jennifer, Michelle, Billy, Zach, Clio, Tim and Maaike. He was always a source of thoughtfulness and inspiration, with a touch of mischievousness. George's  love extended to his 13 great-grandchildren, who brought him immense happiness.

George was preceded in death by his parents, George and Mahala Snider, his brother Larry Snider, and his daughter Carolyn McGinty.

George was a compassionate, generous and warm-hearted person. With his genuine interest and kindness he had the unique ability to make each person feel like the only person in the room. It's no surprise that he was deeply cherished by all who knew him.

George worked for Tremco for 38 years. As Vice President of the International Division, George traveled the world. On each of his trips to faraway places, he brought back memories and shared insights into these amazing places with his family. In his final year at Tremco before retiring, George and Carole moved to Sydney, Australia for Tremco for another life adventure.

In his retirement, George's focus on service was unwavering. He was a key founder of the Muskoka Heritage Foundation in Canada. His hard work and passion led to the protection of over 5,000 acres of property and wetlands from development, leaving a lasting legacy in the community.

George and Carole immensely enjoyed their beloved cottage in Muskoka, Canada, named "Topside." This cherished place has been their sanctuary of love, laughter, and family bonds. George found peace and relaxation at the beautiful waters and pine trees and would spend countless hours puttering around the cottage. Topside has become a place of joy and love for George and Carole, a legacy they have shared with the many generations that follow.
