Eveline G.
Raab
Apr 20, 1926 — Apr 7, 2024
EVELINE G. RAAB (nee Malarick) passed away peacefully at home in Twinsburg on April 7, 2024, just shy of her 98th birthday. Beloved wife of the late William J.; loving mother of William Raab (the late Jill), Karen Raab (John Pazdernik), the late Mary Raab and the late Janette Raab; dear sister of the late Jerome Malarick.
Eveline was born to Andrew and Ann Malarick on April 20, 1926. She attended Ursuline High School in Youngstown, Ohio, where she enjoyed attending all sporting events. After graduation, she displayed her independent spirit by moving to Washington, D.C. to work at the Pentagon. Eveline eventually returned to Cleveland, where she met the love of her life, Bill. They married in Youngstown on May 20, 1950. Together they created the family to whom she was devoted, with four children, Mary, Bill, Janette and Karen. Family gatherings, holidays and events were some of her favorite times.
While beginning her family, Eveline was passionate about her work in the Highland View Hospital office. She especially enjoyed sharing lunch with her children Bill and Jan in daycare, and interacting with patients as part of a groundbreaking treatment program. Eveline and her friend Penny spent many hours brightening the days of patients with games and other events.
Eveline loved many crafts, such as sewing, embroidery, crochet and ceramics. She also loved reading and music, and had a wonderful singing voice. Cooking was her forte, especially holiday meals and baking – she could fill the house with holiday cookies and goodies! She was fluent in Slovak and some Hungarian, and loved to travel near and far, going many places with her husband Bill, including trips with the East Ohio Gas Sunshine Club. Eveline was a founding member of SS. Cosmas and Damian Catholic Church, and her strong faith helped her through life's harder times. She also helped found the Twinsburg Senior Center, volunteered at the Twinsburg polls and was a proponent of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
We will forever miss her smile, sparkling eyes, laughter, and her playful sense of humor.
