Edward J.
Wigdalski
Apr 4, 1951 — Sep 12, 2024
Edward J. Wigdalski of Sagamore Hills passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 12, 2024, at the age of 73. Ed is survived by his wife of 50 years, Sandra (nee' Siemborski); his children, Sarah (Mike) Crupi, Adam Wigdalski, and Stephanie (Jon) Denham; his beloved grandchildren Grant Crupi, Dean Crupi, Jack Edward Denham and Emma Denham; his loving sisters Jane (John) Konkoli, Betty Murray, and Mary (Marty, deceased) Garrett; and his 16 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Edward and Elizabeth Wigdalski.
Ed and Sandy came from two loving families that were intertwined since their childhood growing up together in Garfield Heights. From their days at St. Therese, Ed's high school years at Chanel High School, then Bowling Green State University, Ed and Sandy were sweethearts who celebrated their 50th anniversary in May. Ed adored being with Sandy and always put family first. He provided help and love to everyone without asking for anything in return. Ed was often a first call for his children, siblings, nieces and nephews when it came to car advice, life questions and for a quick joke.
Ed's other love was his work. He took over Atlantic Brake and Ignition from his father at a young age, then opened Turney Auto Parts in Garfield Heights in 1975. Ed worked seven days a week for years building a business, a client base and a life for his family. He was recognized by the city of Garfield Heights in 2016 as a longstanding business owner and community leader. He maintained clients and friends and customers through all 42 years of ownership, and to this day. Once the store became Federated Auto Parts in 2016, Ed remained there, working part time beside the same men who worked for him at Turney. Ed worked as long as he could - until this July - loving the work, the customers and the network he had built.
Ed loved to travel and enjoyed many trips to Colorado to see Adam, drove Route 66 with Jane and John, and went to the beach for many years with the kids. He loved being in his beautiful yard, cutting his grass, planting his garden. He enjoyed every minute with his grandchildren, rarely missing a sporting event of theirs, teaching them how to fish and pick up sticks in the yard, and listening to their stories. Ed's patience, kindness, generosity and work ethic will be missed by all.
