Obituary

Dolores (Dorie) Mary Alaimo, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend was laid to eternal rest on September 18, 2024, in Cleveland, Ohio surrounded by her beloved family. Dorie was born September 20, 1931, in Cleveland, Ohio to Frank and Mary Ferfolia. She married her husband Mead Alaimo (deceased) on January 29, 1951, in Detroit, Michigan. Dorie graduated from John Hay high school where she was a majorette, a love of dance that would carry throughout her life. Dorie held several administrative and professional positions in the legal and medical field. She was often offered additional roles and responsibilities thanks to her organizational skills and attention to detail, but her family was always her first priority. She was an active member of St. Basil the Great Catholic Church throughout her life. She cherished her role as mother, grandmother and Gigi to her family. She created welcome and loving homes filled with music and laughter. No matter who stepped through her door they were greeted with a smile and left well fed and with pockets full of treats. She was a generous hostess for holidays, family events and her grandchildren every summer for trips to the lake, Cedar Point and to the show. She made meaningful connections with those around her and devoted her time to giving to her family and others. Her grandchildren will remember her for many thoughtful acts, especially the monthly care packages she sent all 6 of them through their college years. The packages came stocked with essentials they each liked including homemade cookies and other treats for them to share with friends. She enjoyed all forms of dance, learned to paint ceramics and do floral arrangements. She was a skilled seamstress and an avid baker specializing in cookies, poticza, and candies, which she generously shared with her loved ones. She loved a good hamburger, and her homemade raspberry cookie recipe will be a staple in many families for years to come. She will be remembered by her family and other loved ones for her thoughtfulness, her caring heart and generosity. She is preceded in death by her parents Mary and Frank Ferfolia, stepfather Nick Hrin, siblings Richard and Kathy Hrin and her husband Mead Alaimo. She is survived by her children Dianne Radigan (Ray, deceased), Greg Alaimo (Melissa Zuo) and Jeff Alaimo (Diane Katell); her grandchildren Lisa Radigan (Christian Coughlan), Michael Alaimo, Sara Radigan (Jeremy Heath), Adrienne Alaimo-Kinkaide (David Kinkaide), Stephanie Alaimo, Paul Alaimo and Jack Qiu, her great grandchildren Milo Coughlan and Parker Coughlan and many, many others who loved her.
