Dennis Keith
Hido
Oct 23, 1942 — Sep 20, 2024
Dennis Keith Hido passed away on Friday, September 20, 2024. He was born in Cleveland and raised in Garfield Heights. He attended Garfield High School where he met Frances, his high school sweetheart who became his wife. Dennis joined the Bedford Police Department in 1967 rising the ranks until his retirement as a Lieutenant in 1994. He was in charge of in-service training, the pistol range, dispatcher training, and field training for new recruits. Dennis received numerous commendations for heroism, bravery, and outstanding police work. He received a commendation for rescuing a baby girl from a burning building, rushing her to the hospital, and giving her resuscitation. The Cleveland Federal Bank was robbed in 1975 and Officer Hido spotted the car and apprehended both suspects. He was commended by Maple Heights officers who were on the scene, the Chief of the Bedford Police Department, and the F.B.I.
Dennis loved being with his family. Four sons kept him busy coaching baseball teams, camping, and his life-long passion, fishing. Being on Lake Erie or in Canada with any one of his boys was his greatest joy! He found time for tennis and was a fan of all Cleveland sports teams. He was also willing to help on any project. After retirement, he was employed by Christ Church Episcopal in Hudson.
Dennis is survived by his wife Frances (nee Sanducci); his sons Paul (Diane), Frank (Carrie Sweet), Karl, and Steven; his beloved grandchildren, P.J. (Allison), Kyle, and Piper; Great-Granddaughter Violet is on the way.
"My family is my fortune."
