Obituary

CHARLES W. NAGY, JR, known to everyone as Chuck, passed away on Sunday, June 21, 2026. Loving husband of the late Elaine Rose (nee Veres). Thought of warmly as the devoted father of Carolyn E. Rendon, Debra M. Johnson (Rick deceased); and the late “Chip” Charles W. Nagy III (Sharon). He was the cherished grandfather of Mark S. Barnick, Jr. (Brady), Gil J. Rendon (Lori), Jennifer M. Molnar (Chris), “Chaz” Charles W. Nagy IV, and Lindsey M. Nagy. He was also a proud and adored great grandfather of Briggs, Finn, Brogan, Alana, Jules, Shelby, Mason, Charlie, Audrey, Emma, Sutton, Fyn, Charlie, and Rian. Chuck is the son of the late Charles W. Nagy, Sr. and Hermine Nagy Luther (nee Litafik). He is the brother of Ernie and Ronnie Nagy (both deceased).

Chuck will be remembered as a man of real strength, character and honesty, unwavering love, a great sense of humor, and genuine kindness. He devoted his life to his wife Elaine, who he was married to for 69 years, his three children, family, home and dogs. He found his greatest joy in being a dad and grandpa and in spending his life with those he loved most. Many will remember the way he would greet everyone with a warm smile, making each person feel welcome. He was the kind of man who never missed a chance to sit a little longer in his garage at home, telling jokes and laughing, sharing a drink with his friends, playing a game of nickel dime poker, and making everyone feel right at home. Chuck looked out for others, especially when in need. He loved a good fried pork chop in exchange for fixing a flat tire!

He spent most of his working career as a loyal and dedicated manager for Lucky Shoes in Fairlawn and he valued his employees as family. He was also an avid hunter, loved nature and the outdoors. Daily he would feed all his birds and squirrels, and make a run to Marcs for lottery tickets to try his luck. He was a survivalist to the truest sense!! He loved camping and sharing ghost stories and games around the campfire. He and his family and many friends spent many years enjoying their wooded property in Cambridge, Ohio, which he called his “farm”, which became their second home away from Northfield Ctr. Our dad loved to cook; after all, he always told us he was a cook on the ship when he served in the National Coast Guard. He was famous for his Hungarian dishes, namely Spec, Palascinta, and Cabbage and Noodles. He just loved pies, opposed to cakes and on Thanksgiving Day he could eat the whole pumpkin pie himself! Most of all, he will be remembered for the many visitors who came to see him and for the warm, welcoming way he made everyone feel at home where his hospitality and easygoing spirit were always on display. His character was defined by integrity, compassion, and a deep appreciation for life’s simple blessings.

His love extended to all of his dogs, each of whom held a special place in his heart. He would want to be greeted at the Rainbow Bridge by Colonel, Babe, Kelly, Tonya, Shane, Heather, Chelsea, Misty, Shelly, and Lucky, each one cherished and remembered with love. His legacy lives on in the values he instilled, the memories he created, and the love he shared so freely. Though his passing leaves an immeasurable void, his spirit will continue to live in the hearts of his family and friends. He will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever cherished by all whose lives he touched.
