Obituary

CARMELO LAQUATRA, age 94, of Macedonia, passed away peacefully on April 20, 2024. Carmelo was born on August 3, 1929, in Pennsylvania. Beloved son of the late Michael and Stella Laquatra.  Brother of the late Al, Sam, Jack, Joe and Michael Laquatra. Beloved husband of Jean; loving father of Angela, and Michael (Chrissy); dear grandfather of Alyssa, Chris Jr., Gina, Kally, and Nicholas; beloved Uncle "Sonny" to many nieces and nephews.

Carmelo went to John Hay High School in Cleveland. He was drafted to serve in World War II by the U.S. Marine Corps. After serving his country, he came home to become a hairdresser and business owner. Carmelo worked tirelessly for 55 years in this industry while owning several salons.

Carmelo lived life to the fullest. He loved spending time with his cherished family and friends. He loved gardening and cooking meals, fishing, reading books, exercising, sitting in the sun whether at the beach or just in the outdoors. He enjoyed sports like golfing, swimming, and bowling.  He would conquer crossword and jig-saw puzzles in his spare time. Carmelo loved going on outings and vacations with his family and was very proud of his Italian heritage, sharing stories with others whenever possible.

Carmelo had a voracious work ethic, working hard all his life. He would always offer help to anyone who need it. He had a positive outlook on life was always smiling. He saw the best in everyone he knew.  He was a friend to all, and will never be forgotten. May he rest in eternal peace.

Family and friends may call at THE FERFOLIA FUNERAL HOME, 356 W. AURORA RD. (OH RTE 82), SAGAMORE HILLS FOR A MEMORIAL VISITATION ON SUNDAY, APRIL 28, 2024, FROM 1:00 TO 4:00 PM.  A Military Honors Service will be performed by the United States Marine Corps Honor Guard at 3:30 PM with funeral prayers following at 3:45 PM.
