Obituary

CARMELA (MELINA) MARKOSKY (nee Salvatore), age 76, was called to heaven on January 9, 2025. She was the devoted wife of 56 years to the late Richard James and the cherished mother of Shelly Siegel (Neil), Richard David (Gina), and Lori Peebles (Ed). Carmela was the most excellent Nanni to Cory Skerl (Meghan), Juliana Skerl, Olivia Peebles, great-grandson Lucas Skerl, and her former son-in-law, Tom Skerl. Carmela immigrated to Cleveland, Ohio, from Civitaluparella, Italy, at the age of 14. From lasagna and pastina soup to a full Italian spread of antipasti and her famous cookies, Carmela made sure no one ever left her home hungry. She was a storyteller at heart, always ready to share tales from her real estate career or vivid memories of her Italian childhood. To everyone who knew her, Carmela was a true "woman for others," selflessly striving to improve the lives of those around her. Whether it was her close family or complete strangers, Carmela's compassion and concern for others knew no bounds. Her loss will be deeply felt by all who knew and loved her.
