ALBINA C. GAVALLA, age 94, passed away on August 30, 2026. She was born April 4, 1932 in a small town between Buffalo and Senecaville Ohio; the daughter of the late Mike Gavalla and Catherine “Katie” (nee Grywalsky) Gavalla.
Albina spent many years enjoying being a "country girl" by visiting the family farm in Walhonding (a farming area between Buffalo and Senecaville Ohio). When she and her parents moved to the Cleveland area, she continued to visit "down home" often.
Albina graduated from Villa Angela-St. Joe High School in the Class of 1952. She worked as a secretary for General Electric at Nela Park in East Cleveland until retirement.
She was preceded in death by her sister Marie; her parents; her aunts and uncles; and several cousins.
Albina lived a long and full life enjoying living in several different communities around Northeast Ohio.
Her many "loves" were spending time with family and friends, playing many types of card games, watching old movies, reading, doing word puzzle books, and being a part of a Wii-Bowling Team at the senior apartments where she lived in Mayfield Hts., Ohio.
Her biggest passion was her life-long interest in Cleveland Indians/Guardians baseball.
She is survived by a very large extended family of cousins, second cousins and even some third-generation cousins and close friends.
Friends may call at THE FERFOLIA FUNERAL HOME, 356 WEST AURORA RD. (OH RT 82), SAGAMORE HILLS FOR MEMORIAL VISITATION ON TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 8, 2026 FROM 4-8 P.M. Funeral on Wednesday, September 9, 2026 at 11:15 a.m. at the funeral home. Mass of Christian Burial 12 Noon at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Interment All Saints Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested in her name to Villa Angela-St. Joseph High School, 18419 Lakeshore Boulevard, Cleveland, Ohio 44119 or online at https://vasj.com/donate, or the Susan G. Komen Foundation online at https://www.komen.org/.
Being a huge fan of The Cleveland Indians / Guardians, it is Albina’s wish that everyone attending visitation, and her funeral, wear something representative of the "Indians/Guardians".
